Brilliant scarlet color. Spice-tinged black raspberry and cherry scents are complicated by suggestions of potpourri, musky earth and smoky minerals. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering chewy red/dark berry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors that are lifted and given spine by a core of zesty acidity. Finishes with bright, mineral punch, building tannins and impressive, spice- and floral-driven persistence. (15% new French oak)

Medium ruby, the 2016 Pinot Noir le Puits Sec has a nose of charcuterie, tar, dried flowers, saline and peppercorn with a core of warm blackberries, red and black cherries and blueberry hints. The palate is medium-bodied, silky and savory with a chalky frame and good freshness, finishing long and nuanced. This will benefit from another year in bottle.
