As expected from the master, Jean-Marc Brocard, this is a very fine expression of Montée de Tonnerre which marries power and elegance in the same glass. Lovely purity on the nose with wildflowers and a hint of ripe peach. The palate is concentrated yet still very precise with citrus acidity and a long, lingering mineral finish.

The 2020 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is clean and precise on the nose; bright and lively with citrus peel, crushed stone and lemon verbena make these aromatics irresistible. The palate is well balanced with a steely entry. Cohesive and mineral-driven, there is impressive weight and volume, wonderful persistence on the lightly spiced finish. Excellent. An elegant, pure and equally airy nose is even more elegant with its combination of white flower, sea breeze, mineral reduction and quinine scents. The crystalline middle weight flavors are almost painfully intensity with superb length on the chiseled, stony and refreshing finish. This is really quite classy and a wine that should age effortlessly.
