The Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2020 Barolo Ludo shows classic Nebbiolo aromas of roses and tar that are fleshed out in this case by redcurrant and cranberry. The fruit is bright and lively, not overripe, as we see in many other wines from this vintage, with a touch of something spicy like saffron or aniseed. It shows nice overall balance with good acidity.
A fresh and fragrant nose with cherries, dried cranberries, hints of rose hips, sandalwood and dried orange. Some wet stone character, too. Bright and juicy on the medium-bodied palate with dusty tannins and savory character to the red fruit and vivid acidity. Textured and chalky. Attractive now, but better after 2026.
Pouring a rich ruby color, the 2020 Barolo Ludo is very attractive on the nose, with aromas of red cherries, spiced orange, anise, and crushed earth. Medium-bodied, it’s bright and even on the palate, with fine tannins, clean lift, and a weightless feel. It’s a very charming entry to the Barolos from Einaudi. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
The 2020 Barolo Ludo is a tasty entry-level offering from Einaudi. Crushed flowers, tobacco, mint, cedar and dried herbs give the 2020 lovely aromatic presence. This inviting, mid-weight Barolo is all class.
