Plenty of blueberries and violets with some crushed dark fruit. It’s full and nicely layered with a soft, plush texture. From organically grown grapes.
Notes of minty blackberries, cherries and plums preface the 2020 Todeschini Distique 13, a medium to full-bodied, deep and layered wine that's more concentrated and structured than the regular Château Mangot, featuring a more elevated percentage of Cabernet and seeing élevage in barrels, foudres and amphorae. It will require a bit more patience.
The 2020 Château Mangot Todeschini Distique has a similar celery/vegetal nuance, and although it’s more integrated, it's still a head scratcher. A blend of 40% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, it has ripe blue fruits, medium to full body, solid tannins, and complex notes of green tobacco, celery seed, and spring flowers. Again, give this some bottle age and hopefully this green edge turns more toward cedar and floral notes.
The 2020 Todeschini Distinque 13 has a surprisingly more classically-styled bouquet with blackberry, sous-bois and light cedar scents unfurling. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, impressive grip and backbone, while retaining a smooth and quite persistent, dark chocolate-tinged finish. Give this 3-5 years in bottle.
