From a vineyard just up the hill from Joseph Phelps, farmed by Jim Barbour and made by Jean Hoefliger, Denali's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a great wine, showing wonderful purity of cherry fruit, despite being matured in 100% new French oak. Subtle oak shadings and herbal nuances add complexity without distracting from the fruit. The wine is medium to full-bodied and comes across as composed, relaxed and easy to like, with a long, elegant finish that falls somewhere between silky and velvety.
