This has vibrant, lush fruit and remarkably grippy tannins. It’s very ripe but still fresh and very concentrated for an IGP. Keep for a year or two if possible. ‘Rich but with enough tannin to absorb some of the power,’ says Pierre Rostaing. A great value option for lovers of Côte-Rôtie on a budget. From 3 plots around Saint-Cyr, two-thirds whole cluster.
Drinking Window 2021 - 2022
Aromas of ripe dark fruit, spicecake, succulent herbs and candied flowers; a smoky mineral element adds verve. Sweet, palate-coating blueberry, dark cherry, allspice and smoky bacon flavors deepen steadily as the wine opens up. Broad, seamless and lively in character, finishing with strong, spicy cut and mounting tannins that meld slowly with the wine's lingering fruit.

This cuvée has impressed the past couple of vintages. The 2018 IGP Collines Rhodaniennes les Lezardes Syrah is fragrant and fruit driven, with attractive scents of raspberries, blackberries and licorice. It's medium to full-bodied, with solid tannic clout on the finish that lets you know this isn't just another easy-drinking Syrah.
