Very pretty, with sliced strawberries, black cherries and violets. Some volcanic soil and oyster shells. Medium-bodied with pepper, spices, graphite and savory. Pure cherry fruit. Drink now.

A lovely medium red color, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is Ferren’s appellation wine and was raised in 20% new oak, while they use between 30-32% new oak in their other wines. This wine opens to a beautiful perfume of pomegranate and a hint of blue fruit, fresh roses, fresh herbs, and delicate mushroomy earth. It’s lovely on the palate, with medium body, and it’s fine, well-defined, and very even throughout, with refreshing acidity. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast takes time to shake off initial scents of struck flint and reveal aromas of wild berries, orange peel and earth. The palate is more open and detailed at this stage. It offers layer after layer of earth and bitters-laced fruit. It’s structured by finely astringent tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a very long, detailed finish. It will benefit from a few years in the cellar

The 2021 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a fine introduction to this range. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, spice, mint and white pepper give the 2021 lovely brightness to match its gracious, mid-weight personality. Drink this over the next five to seven years.
