I have always loved the wines from Gavi, and the La Scolca Gavid dei Gavi Black label is the godfather of Gavi. La Scolca is located in the unofficial Grand Cru of Cortese, the Rovereto district of Gavi. The vines are up to 60 years old with deep roots in the clay soil and grow along the picturesque slopes of Gavi. The Black Label is a crisp white wine with notes of fresh daisies and Meyer Lemons and gives you notes of apricot and minerality on the palate. This is truly a wine made for gathering with family and friends on Easter, pairing well with seafood and lighter chicken dishes. I enjoy it best while listening to Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana. Enjoy! - JD Arredondo
