Pedro Parra y Familia: A Study in Terroir
Join us for a tasting exploring the wines of Pedro Parra y Familia, one of the most compelling voices behind the modern evolution of Chilean wine. Pedro Parra is widely known as a leading terroir specialist, holding a PhD in terroir and consulting for renowned estates around the world. His personal project, however, is rooted at home in southern Chile, where he focuses on the historic Itata region and its ancient granite soils.
These wines come from dry-farmed old vines, many 60 to over 100 years old, grown on steep, sandy granite hillsides. In the cellar, Parra takes a restrained approach—native yeast fermentations, gentle extraction, and aging in neutral vessels—to preserve the energy and transparency of the sites.
Will Farley of Contraband Bayou will guide guests through a lineup highlighting País and Cinsault from some of Parra’s most distinctive vineyard sites.
