October 27th Picks: Sicilian Red + Finger Lakes Bubbles

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard Cuvee Brut 2020
We are really excited to have this bubbly from the Finger Lakes in New York. Wiemer has been making Method Traditionnelle Sparkling wine since the 1980's. This is a blend of roughly 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir. It is aged for 42 months on the lees and hand riddled and hand disgorged, which brings out a rich texture in the wine with lean mineral tension and a persistent mousse. It has an elegant nuttiness with crisp apple and lemon notes finishing with a wonderful creaminess and brioche. They only make about 450 cases of this, so grab some while you can!

Terre Nere Bellacolonna Etna Rosso 2022
This special bottling celebrates the 20th anniversary of one of the best winemakers on Mount Etna, Terre Nere. The wine is 100% Nerello Mascalese all sourced from a subplot named Bellacolonna from the Caldera Sottana Contrada. The pumace rich volcanic soils in this small section of the vineyard help to give the wine structure and richness, while the high elevation gives the wine a fresh and vibrant flavor. On the palette, you'll taste juicy raspberry, crushed strawberry, blood orange, star anise and tangy saline notes. The soft tannins with just a hint of new oak make this a truly unforgettable wine. Make sure you grab one of these Anniversary bottles before they're all gone!
