Chateau du Tariquet Hors d'Age Cask Strength is a powerful, full-proof expression from one of the leading estates in the Bas-Armagnac region, bottled without dilution to showcase the intensity and texture of long-aged Gascon brandy in its purest form.

Unlike many polished, oak-forward luxury brandies, Tariquet’s style stays vivid and energetic. The estate distills from its own estate-grown grapes, primarily Ugni Blanc and Baco, using continuous Armagnac stills before aging the spirit for many years in French oak sourced from the nearby forests of Gascony. The cask strength bottling preserves all of that concentration and structure.

The nose is packed with prune, dried apricot, orange peel, toasted walnut, baking spice, cigar wrapper, and dark caramel, along with earthy notes of leather and polished wood. On the palate, it arrives with serious weight and warmth, but there’s also freshness underneath the richness. Layers of fig paste, roasted nuts, cocoa, spice cake, and black tea carry through a long, dry finish with lingering oak spice and rancio character.

Even at full proof, it remains surprisingly balanced and expressive rather than hot or aggressive. A few drops of water can open it beautifully, pulling out more citrus, floral notes, and sweetness from the fruit.

This is an excellent bottle for whiskey drinkers exploring Armagnac because it delivers the intensity and structure of cask strength whisky while keeping the earthy, fruit-driven soul that makes mature Armagnac so distinctive.
