Size: 1.20 ha (2.96 ac) Variety: Chenin Blanc Vine Age: Planted in 1933 and 1952 Terroir: Soils of sand and clay, softer limestone bedrock. Viticulture: Organic. Guyau Val de Loire Pruning. Vinification: Hand harvested and carefully sorted in the vineyard. Pressed with whole clusters, ambient yeast fermentation. Aged for 18 months on the fine lees in barrels (new and 1-2 years old).', 'Lemon oil, crushed mint, white flowers and hazelnuts introduce Guiberteau’s 2020 Brézé, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and rich white that’s broad and enveloping with a fleshy core of fruit. Long, ethereal and mineral, the finish is underlined by delicate notes of spices and caramel. Crafted from vines planted on three different plots, it matured for two years in half new/half used barrels.', 'The 2020 Brézé is a blend of three plots within this esteemed vineyard. It spends two years in 50% new oak, creating a very powerfully oaked style that combines clove and wood. It’s a very young take that' s taut and citrussy, making it difficult to taste at the moment. Smoky bacon and ripe apple with bright acidity. Tight and firm (no malo), this needs time to unfurl and shake off that oak. Long, fragrant style. Excellent vineyard and fruit, but I wonder if the oak is too much? Based on previous vintages, it shouldn 't be, but there ' s a question mark here. Note that the wines poured had been opened for more than five days and were tasting as they were meant to be...

Description

A refined expression of terroir, crafted from vines planted in 1933 and 1952 across two Brézé plots where sandy-clay soils overlay soft limestone bedrocks. It's aged for 15–18 months on the lees in a mix of demi-muids and barrels (both new and 1–2 years old), then blended and given a final few months of aging in steel tanks before filtration. On the nose, vibrant aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and subtle flinty minerality unfold, leading to a palate marked by lively acidity, layered texture, and a persistent finish that beautifully expresses its unique terroir and time-honored winemaking.
