Producer's Notes

El Amparo is a pure single rum from Ecuador, produced in the city of Jipijapa, in the Manabí province, from a variety of sugar cane that is commonly called Cubana Negra. While aguardiente is produced in many South American countries, Ecuador has a long history of distillation that remains locally enjoyed undiscovered until recently by the global market. This bottling to celebrate 60 years of experience over three generations of the Zorilla family and share their beautiful spirit with the world. El Amparo means 'shelter' in English. The name was coined by Gonzalo Almanzor Zorrilla Toala, the maternal grandfather of Carlos Baque Zorrilla. Carlos is the current owner of the distillery and third generation in his family to carry on the production of this beautiful liquid.
Description

El Amparo Ron Equatorial Rum is a Venezuelan rum produced from molasses and aged in oak barrels in an equatorial climate that encourages steady maturation and integration. The warm aging conditions help develop depth and texture while maintaining balance, resulting in a rum that leans rich and expressive without becoming overly sweet.

The profile shows notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, cocoa, baking spice, and dried fruit, with a rounded palate and lingering finish shaped by barrel aging and tropical maturation. The texture is smooth and approachable, making it equally suited for sipping neat or building richer rum cocktails.

El Amparo focuses on a classic Venezuelan style, emphasizing balance, oak integration, and a softer, polished profile rather than heavily sugared or aggressively flavored rum.
