Cocchi Americano (750ml)

Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine from Piedmont, Italy, produced by Giulio Cocchi in the town of Asti. First created in 1891, it is made from Moscato-based wine infused with a blend of herbs and spices, including gentian, cinchona bark, and citrus peel. Despite its name, "Americano" refers to the bittering agents used in the recipe rather than the United States.

The nose is bright and aromatic, offering notes of orange peel, lemon zest, chamomile, wild herbs, and white flowers. On the palate, it balances gentle sweetness with refreshing bitterness, revealing flavors of citrus, green apple, honey, quinine, and alpine herbs. The finish is crisp, lightly bitter, and remarkably refreshing.

Cocchi Americano occupies a space between dry vermouth and aperitif wines such as Lillet Blanc, though it delivers more pronounced herbal and quinine notes. It is a classic ingredient in cocktails and is often used as a substitute for the now-extinct Kina Lillet in recipes such as the Vesper Martini. It is equally enjoyable served chilled over ice with a twist of orange or topped with soda for a refreshing aperitivo.
