Lemorton Domfrontais Sélection Calvados is a traditional Norman apple-and-pear brandy from the Domfrontais appellation in Normandy, an area celebrated for its high proportion of pear trees and more aromatic, lifted style of Calvados. The Lemorton family is regarded as one of the benchmark traditional producers in the region, known for farming old orchards, fermenting naturally, distilling slowly in column stills, and aging patiently in oak casks.

Unlike apple-dominant Calvados styles, Domfrontais expressions must contain a significant amount of pears, which gives the spirit added floral character, freshness, and finesse. The nose opens with ripe pear, baked apple, honey, orchard blossoms, vanilla, and gentle spice layered over earthy cider notes. On the palate, it is supple and elegant with flavors of poached pear, caramelized apple, toasted almond, spice cake, citrus peel, and subtle oak carried by bright acidity and a silky texture.

The “Sélection” bottling serves as an excellent introduction to the Lemorton style, emphasizing purity of fruit and regional identity over heavy oak influence. It retains a wonderfully rustic authenticity while remaining remarkably graceful and approachable.
