Roger Groult Calvados 18 Year is a beautifully mature Pays d’Auge Calvados from one of the most respected traditional producers in Normandy. The Groult family has been producing Calvados for generations using estate-grown cider apples, slow fermentation, double distillation in copper pot stills, and long aging in oak barrels that allow the spirit to evolve gradually while preserving its orchard-driven character.

After eighteen years in cask, the spirit develops remarkable depth and polish without losing the freshness that defines great Calvados. The nose opens with baked apple, roasted pear, honey, vanilla, toasted walnut, dried flowers, spice cake, and subtle earthy cellar notes. On the palate, it is layered and elegant with flavors of caramelized orchard fruit, almond paste, orange peel, baking spice, leather, and polished oak balanced by lively acidity and a silky texture.

Compared with younger expressions, the 18 Year shows considerably more savory complexity and integration, with the oak influence supporting rather than overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long, warming, and quietly nuanced, unfolding gradually with air in the glass.
