Tears Of Llorona Tequila Extra Anejo #3 (1l)

Tears of Llorona is one of the more distinctive extra añejo tequilas out there, built with a very intentional aging approach. Made from 100% blue Weber agave, it’s aged for over five years in a mix of different casks, including barrels that previously held Scotch whisky, sherry, and brandy. That layered aging is what gives it a profile that sits closer to aged whisky or Cognac than traditional tequila.

The nose is deep and developed, with cooked agave, dried fruit, and oak up front, followed by notes of vanilla, cocoa, and a touch of nuttiness. On the palate, it’s rich and structured, showing caramel, dark chocolate, spice, and subtle oxidative notes from the sherry casks, all built around a core of sweet roasted agave. The texture is full and coating, with a long, evolving finish that carries both oak and agave all the way through.

This is a sipping tequila through and through. It leans heavily into barrel influence, but it’s put together in a way that still feels balanced rather than overworked. A great pick for whiskey drinkers crossing into tequila, or for anyone looking for one of the more layered, contemplative styles in the category.
