Tesseron Cognac Lot 76 (750ml)

Tesseron Cognac Lot 76 is a deeper, more mature expression than Lot 90, built from Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie distilled in 1976 and aged for decades in old Limousin oak. This is where Tesseron’s style really starts to show its old-school character: layered rancio, concentration, and remarkable texture without excessive oakiness.

The nose is intensely aromatic with dried fig, date, walnut, orange oil, cigar box, antique wood, leather, cocoa, and polished spice. With air, it continues to unfold into notes of prune, roasted coffee, pipe tobacco, and dark honey. The palate is powerful yet incredibly refined, carrying a dense core of dried fruit and roasted nuts balanced by vibrant acidity and a long, savory finish.

What makes Lot 76 especially compelling is the tension between richness and freshness. Despite the age, it never feels tired or overly oxidative. Tesseron’s long aging in humid cellars helps preserve lift and elegance while developing the layered rancio character collectors look for in mature Cognac.

This is very much a contemplative Cognac meant for slow sipping. A large glass and plenty of time in the glass rewards patience.
