Whistlepig Old World Cask Finish 12 Year Rye Whiskey (750ml)

WhistlePig Old World Rye is a 12-year-old rye whiskey that combines extended maturation with a distinctive trio of European wine-cask finishes. The whiskey first matures for 12 years in new American oak before portions are finished separately in Madeira, Sauternes, and Port casks. The final whiskey brings together 63% Madeira-finished rye, 30% Sauternes-finished rye, and 7% Port-finished rye, and is bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV).

The nose is rich with caramel, vanilla, and ripe winter fruit. On the palate, rye spice provides structure for layers of apricot, plum, raisin, date, and honey, with the wine casks adding both sweetness and fruit-driven complexity. The finish turns toward dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and lingering fruit.

The combination of mature rye and three contrasting wine-cask finishes gives Old World Rye an unusually layered profile, balancing the whiskey's natural spice with concentrated fruit and sweetness from the Madeira, Sauternes, and Port casks.
