Shizuoka Pot Still W Japanese Barley Single Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)

Produced at Shizuoka Distillery in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture, Pot Still W 100% Japanese Barley is a single malt Japanese whisky made entirely from non-peated, Japan-grown malted barley. The whisky is distilled exclusively on Shizuoka’s distinctive Pot Still W, a copper wash still heated by a direct wood fire using locally sourced timber. The intense direct heat reaches temperatures far beyond conventional steam heating, producing a richer, weightier and gently toasted style of new make. Shizuoka describes this series as “single wash still” whisky because all of the spirit comes from the same wash still.

The Japanese barley brings a delicate, smooth sweetness that contrasts with the robust character of the wood-fired distillation. The profile is rich and malty yet elegant, with gentle grain sweetness, toasted cereal and fruit complemented by roasted and lightly charred nuances from the distillation process. The result combines the softer character Shizuoka associates with Japanese barley with the weight, depth and long finish characteristic of Pot Still W.
