La Venenosa Destilado de Agave Amula (750ml)

Produced by Ricardo Juárez in Las Canoas, Sierra de Amula, Jalisco, La Venenosa Amula is a traditional agave spirit made from an ensemble of Agave angustifolia, locally known as Lineño and Cimarrón. The agaves are roasted in an earthen pit with volcanic rock and black oak, hand-chopped with machetes and then passed through a small shredder. Fermentation takes place with wild yeast in an underground tepetate pit, followed by two distillations in a distinctive Philippine-style still constructed from a tree trunk and copper.

The profile is earthy and mineral-driven, opening with aromas of wet grass, minerals and cooked agave. On the palate, gentle acidity is joined by saline and earthy notes, with a medium-bodied texture and a subtly astringent finish. Its character reflects both the diverse agave landscape of Sierra de Amula and the region's distinctive traditional production methods.
