This 18-year-old Ledaig is part of The Single Malts of Scotland range by Elixir Distillers, a series focused on small-batch releases that highlight distillery character with minimal intervention.

Distilled at Tobermory Distillery, Ledaig represents the peated side of the house style—more rugged and coastal, with a distinctly earthy, maritime profile.

Aged for 18 years and drawn from a small selection of casks, this Reserve Cask release brings added depth and integration to Ledaig’s smoky character. Bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered, and without added color, it keeps its full texture and structure intact.

The profile balances mature peat with layered richness. Smoke is present but well integrated, leaning more toward earthy, coastal notes than sharp intensity. Beneath that, there’s a core of honeyed malt, baked orchard fruit, and citrus peel, with secondary notes of dried herbs, soft spice, and a touch of vanilla from the cask. The texture is oily and rounded, carrying into a long finish with lingering smoke, gentle salinity, and warming spice.

With extended aging, Ledaig takes on a more composed, nuanced character—less about raw intensity and more about balance and depth. This is a great example of that evolution, showing how peat, fruit, and structure come together over time.
