Derrumbes Mezcal Artesanal Michoacan Chino Alto (750ml)

Produced in Tzitzio, Michoacán, Derrumbes Michoacán is a joven mezcal made from an ensemble of two regional agaves: Chino (Agave cupreata) and Alto (Agave inaequidens). Maestro Mezcalero Guadalupe “Lupe” Pérez employs traditional Michoacán methods, including fermentation in underground vessels lined with wood and clay. The mezcal is then distilled over direct flame in the region’s distinctive Philippine-style stills constructed from wood and copper.

The two agaves contribute complementary characteristics: Chino brings ripe fruit and richness, while Alto contributes a more herbaceous, forest-like character reminiscent of the pine-covered landscape surrounding the production area. The result is layered and expressive, balancing mature fruit with green herbs, earthy agave and subtle smoke. Its traditional distillation contributes additional depth and texture while allowing the distinctive character of the two Michoacán agaves to remain at the forefront.
