Rums of Mexico Cana Dura Marcos Lopez Rum (700ml)

Produced by Marcos López in Cosautlán de Carvajal, Veracruz, Caña Dura is an unaged Mexican rum made from fresh sugarcane juice. López is a cane grower and aguardiente distiller who learned the craft from his father and grandfather, continuing a family tradition of sugarcane distillation in the region.

The spirit takes its name from Caña Dura, also known locally as Caña Fierro, a pale yellow-green sugarcane variety prized for its resilience and the most commonly grown cane variety in the municipality. The fresh cane juice is fermented before being distilled on López's five-plate continuous still constructed from copper and stainless steel.

Bottled without barrel aging, Caña Dura puts the character of the sugarcane at the forefront, with a fresh, savory profile marked by vegetal and citrus notes alongside cucumber, tropical fruit, and a distinct mineral quality. It is part of The Rums of Mexico, a collection highlighting the diversity of cane varieties, producers, and distillation traditions found throughout Mexico.
